Joy Hyska
The one invariable in my life has been my passion for horses. I’ve been a member of the AQHA since my youth and showed Quarter horses in Western Pleasure and Barrels. I’m presently a member of the Rocky Mountain Horse Association. My genuine interest is working with young horses to help them develop good ground manners and to become a sensible trail companion. My husband and I have spent the last two winters riding our horses in the Santa Catalina Mountains in Arizona, and at this time have ridden in ten other states.
NOTE FROM BRENDA: Joy is well named, as she is a true Joy to work with. A life-long horseman - and natural teacher - I completely trust that she can help take you where you want to go with your horse. She was a general horse/rider trainer for many years before coming into my program, and brings a wealth of experience to this work.
We discovered that our gaited horse friends were seeing much more territory on a day’s ride than we were with our Quarter Horses. After riding our friends gaited horses, we knew it was decision time! We now own two beautiful Rockies, and are totally converted to the gaited horse world. At that time, I had no idea a horse could do so many gaits!
Looking for help, I discovered that many riders didn’t know which gait their horses were doing, or how to improve it. Many resorted to harsh bits and unnatural shoeing methods in an attempt to get a consistent gait. I knew there had to be a better way, and I’m very excited to have found it in Brenda’s Gaits of Gold program. I am also very excited to have been accepted into the Gaits of Gold Training Partner. At this time I have worked with Brenda to achieve Certified Apprentice status. My goal is to work very hard to become a Certified Level II Instructor. It is my desire to help gaited horse owners achieve a pleasurable and comfortable partnership with their horses.
